Whether your goal is to play clubs, private events, brunches, beach parties, weddings, livestream online, or simply mix music for your own enjoyment in your bedroom or basement, this course was created for you.
WeJAM DJ Academy's DJ Foundations is an immersive, hands-on beginner course designed specifically for adults with little or no DJ experience.
Unlike traditional classroom instruction, our program is built around a 60% hands-on / 40% lecture learning model. You'll spend less time watching and more time behind the decks, developing the skills and confidence needed to perform real DJ mixes.
By the end of the course, you'll understand not only how to DJ—but why great DJs make the choices they do.
No experience required...just bring your passion.
What You'll Learn
Throughout this four-week experience, you'll learn how to:
🎧 Set up and operate your own DJ controller
🎵 Navigate Serato DJ Pro & Rekordbox with confidence
🎼 Organize your music library like a professional
🎚 Understand BPM, phrasing, beatmatching, and harmonic mixing
🎛 Learn how to use EQs, filters, looping, cue points, and transitions
🎤 Develop proper DJ etiquette, performance confidence & troubleshooting DJ related issues
🔥 Read a crowd and build energy through music selection
🎶 Gain an understanding of Serato Stems for creating exclusive "mash-ups" & edits
🎉 Perform your first live DJ set during "Recital Night"

Equipment Requirements
Students must bring:
✔ A laptop that meets Serato DJ Pro system requirements
✔ A Serato-compatible DJ controller (any brand that fits your budget)
✔ A solid-state external hard drive or USB 3.0 flash drive for music storage
✔ DJ headphones (recommended)
Need help selecting equipment? We'll provide guidance before the first class.
